Top-5 New Year's resolutions for 2023

A new year is a chance to start fresh, so why not set yourself up for success with some healthy lifestyle resolutions? According to surveys, the most popular resolutions for 2022 included eating better, exercising more, and saving more money.

Here at the360mix, we've got some great ideas for resolutions that can help you achieve your health and wellness goals in 2023 (all of them are part of my list)!

New year, new you: Top-5 resolutions for 2023

Eating & snacking healthy

One of the best ways to improve your health is by paying attention to what you eat and making sure you're getting the nutrients your body needs. This year, why not resolve to eat more whole foods and cook at home more often. Eating out or ordering in can be unhealthy and expensive, so cooking at home will save you both money and calories. And when it comes to snacks, reach for healthier snack options and fruits instead of highly processed choices. Your body will thank you!

We all know exercise is important for our physical health, but did you know it's also great for our mental health? This year, make a resolution to get active for at least 30 minutes every day. I’m personally getting up earlier every morning to walk for an hour on the treadmill. You can break it up into smaller chunks of time if that's more convenient for you. Just make sure you're getting moving and sweating a little bit each day. Regular exercise has been shown to reduce stress levels, improve moods, and even help with weight loss.

Mental health

The importance of mental health is more evident than ever because of the pandemic. Maybe you’re dealing with a lot of uncertainty, a horrible boss, or a toxic work environment. I certainly have been there.

This year, resolve to do something each day that makes you happy. Whether it's reading a book, hiking, or spending time with friends or family, find something that brings joy into your life on a daily basis. It’s The One-Minute Happiness Journal for me at the end of each day. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it!

Seeing new places can be great for your mental health and it's also an opportunity to learn about different cultures. If international travel isn't possible or you think it’s still not safe right now due to the pandemic, don't worry. There are plenty of amazing places to explore right here in the United Arab Emirates.

This year, plan a road trip or weekend getaway to somewhere new. Even if you cannot travel far from home, there are probably places nearby that you've always wanted to visit but haven't had the chance. And if you need any recommendations, Off The Beaten Track UAE is a great place to start. Make 2023 the year you finally see them!

We all have a responsibility to take care of our planet, and there are lots of small things we can do to make a big impact. This year, try to live a little bit greener by recycling more, conserving water, investing in reusable items like shopping bags and water bottles (Dubai Can). You can also support environmental causes financially by donating to charities or planting trees! We partnered with One Tree Planted, so at the checkout you can choose to leave a tip. Every little bit helps when it comes to preserving our planet for future generations.

While I was doing the mindfulness-based stress reduction training in 2021, I realized it was time for a change. I needed to get more active and make better lifestyle choices. So I quit my full-time job early 2022 to focus on me and myself. I’m currently taking a nutrition course through The Health Sciences Academy®. My Deliveroo days are over. Off to a better me and…you!
